About
Atop Napa Valley’s Howell Mountain rest 80 acres of wild beauty known as the ADAMVS Estate. Denise Adams and her late husband, Stephen, guided the evolution of ADAMVS from its inception, shaping the estate through biodynamic farming and a steadfast commitment to integrity, craftsmanship and quality.
Denise and Stephen Adams followed their passion for farming and wine to the Saint-Émilion region nearly 20 years ago. They lovingly restored a 19th-century château, Château Fonplégade, and its Grand Cru Classé vineyards while implementing organic and biodynamic farming practices.
When they discovered the rugged Howell Mountain property in 2008, Denise and Stephen immediately recognized its extraordinary potential for producing world-class mountain wines. ADAMVS, derived from Latin meaning “borne from our red earth”, reflects the estate’s striking terroir of red volcanic soils and undulating hillsides.
Today, the vineyard has been Demeter-certified biodynamic for more than sixteen years. ADAMVS produces only estate wines, including three Cabernet Sauvignons and a Sauvignon Blanc, that capture the purity, character and soul of this remarkable mountain site.
Vineyards
Grown on the red soil slopes of our hillside estate, our wines are literally borne from our red earth. Like nature, they are expressions of many elements working in harmony.
To realize the complexity that defines the finest Cabernet Sauvignons, our estate is a mosaic of five vineyard sites, ranging in elevation from 1,500 to 2,000 feet. Of our 28-planted acres, 25 are Cabernet Sauvignon, with nine hand-selected clones spread out over an array of exposures and elevations.
Every vineyard block is farmed entirely by our in-house team, whose deep knowledge of the land allows each site to express its fullest potential. While we embrace innovation, we also believe there is no substitute for experience and the human touch. With integrity and passion, our Organic and Biodynamic Demeter certified vines are hand-tended a minimum of seven times each season, ensuring meticulous care from budbreak to harvest.
